Megan Nicotera, Corps de Ballet

Born in San Francisco and raised in Las Vegas, Megan began her training at the age of 4 at Nevada Ballet Theatre. Her teachers included Ella Gurkova, Monika Rostomian, and Tara Foy. She became a member of the company at 18 and danced with them for two seasons. When she was 20, she took a break from ballet and decided to attend culinary school. After four years of cooking for a profession, she realized she wanted to have ballet in her life again and began training at Kwak Ballet Academy, owned by Kyudong Kwak and Yoomi Lee, two former Principal dancers of NBT, who had also been two of Megan’s childhood instructors. She auditioned and was offered a contract which, lead to her moving to San Diego. Since her arrival, she has danced with San Diego Ballet, City Ballet of San Diego, California Ballet, and now Golden State Ballet.

Some of Megan’s most memorable roles have been, Indian Maiden in Septime Webre’s Peter Pan, Corps de Ballet in George Balanchine’s Concerto Barocco, Corps de Ballet in George Balanchine’s Emeralds, Princess in Thor Sutowski’s Swan Lake, Mirliton and Spanish in Bruce Steivel’s The Nutcracker, and Demi Soloist Flower and Spanish in Jared Nelson’s The Nutcracker. Megan’s love for ballet has lead her to become an instructor as well. Currently, she teaches at multiple studios
