GSB COMPANY AUDITIONS


At this time, Golden State Ballet is not holding any open auditions. If you are interested in being invited to a company class audition, please email your audition materials to auditions@goldenstateballet.org. Interested applicants should be passionate dancers with strong classical ballet & contemporary technique. Women must have strong pointe work and men must have strong partnering skills.

BOARD MEMBER

Golden State Ballet 
Volunteer Position | Ongoing Term | Southern California (San Diego–based) 


Golden State Ballet is seeking thoughtful, engaged Volunteer Board Members to join its Board of Directors. Board members play a key role in advancing the Company’s mission, ensuring long-term sustainability, and supporting artistic excellence. 

This is a 100% volunteer, unpaid position and is not intended to provide employment or financial compensation. 

About Golden State Ballet 

Golden State Ballet is a professional ballet company dedicated to presenting high-quality classical and contemporary ballet while expanding access to the arts through education and community engagement. As the largest professional ballet company in San Diego, Golden State Ballet is home to 28 professional dancers and presents a dynamic season of three to four productions annually. 

Time & Location Commitment 

  • Approximately 2 hours per month, plus occasional performances, events, or special meetings 

  • Monthly board meetings held for approximately two hours 

  • Meetings are held both in person and via Zoom 

  • Board members must reside in Southern California 

  • Ability to one in-person meeting and/or event per quarter in San Diego is required 

What You’ll Do 

Board Members support Golden State Ballet through governance, advocacy, and strategic leadership, including: 

  • Providing oversight and guidance on organizational strategy and long-term planning 

  • Supporting the financial health and sustainability of the organization 

  • Serving as an ambassador for Golden State Ballet within the community 

  • Participating in board meetings, committees, and special initiatives as needed 

  • Supporting fundraising and development efforts at a level appropriate to the individual

PRODUCTION INTERN

Golden State Ballet 
March–June 2026 | Unpaid Internship | San Diego, CA 


Golden State Ballet is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Production Intern to join our production team for the 2026 season. This hands-on internship offers real-world experience in professional ballet and technical theatre, with the potential for consideration for production roles in future seasons based on performance, availability, and organizational needs. 

This position is ideal for high school or college students seeking academic credit or practical performing arts experience prior to entering the workforce. 

What You’ll Do 

The Production Intern will assist with a variety of backstage and production operations, including: 

  • Assisting with prop, set, and wardrobe management 

  • Supporting load-in and load-out at rehearsal and performance venues 

  • Coordinating with theatre crews during rehearsals and performances 

  • Assisting with communication and coordination alongside lighting and sound technicians 

  • Supporting backstage operations during technical rehearsals and live performances 

  • Providing general production support to ensure smooth, professional performances 

What You’ll Gain

MARKETING & COMMUNICATIONS INTERN (DESIGN)

Golden State Ballet is seeking a creative, detail-oriented Marketing & Communications Intern to support the Company’s marketing and audience engagement efforts for the 2026 season. This hands-on internship offers practical experience in arts marketing, communications, and brand storytelling within a professional ballet organization, with the potential for consideration for roles in future seasons based on performance, availability, and organizational needs. 

This position is ideal for high school or college students seeking academic credit or hands-on experience in marketing, design/communications, journalism, or the performing arts. 

What You’ll Do 

The Marketing & Communications Intern will assist with a variety of content design/creation and communications tasks, including: 

  • Drafting copy for marketing emails, newsletters, and print materials 

  • Assisting with press releases and media communications 

  • Designing and scheduling social media content across platforms, including working with staff photographer and pulling heavily from available photo library.

  • Supporting content design/development for promotional and audience engagement initiatives, with emphasis on graphic design work.

  • Assisting with general marketing and communications support as needed.

What You’ll Gain

What You’ll Do 

The Development Intern will assist with a range of fundraising and engagement activities, including: 

  • Assisting with grant applications, reporting, and prospect research 

  • Supporting donor management and engagement, including research and stewardship efforts 

  • Supporting planning and coordination of outreach and donor engagement events 

  • Assisting with donor communications and acknowledgment materials 

  • Providing general administrative support to development initiatives as needed 

What You’ll Gain 

  • Hands-on experience in nonprofit development and fundraising
